Bringing Simplicity to Life
The concept for Updoc’s campaign was simple but powerful: don’t overcomplicate the simple things. The challenge was translating this idea into four engaging films, all shot in a single day with a lean budget. To keep costs down, we filmed the entire campaign in their office, making the most of the space to create different setups that would capture each storyline effectively.
With 7 actors cast through Starnow, a talented crew made up of a director, gaffer, DoP, and HMuA, we managed to shoot the films while ensuring everything ran smoothly. Each crew member worked seamlessly to bring the concept to life within our constraints, proving that with the right team, anything is possible.
Making Magic Happen with the BMPCC6K Pro
We captured the vision using the BMPCC6K Pro paired with Zeiss Contax MMJ lenses, which gave the footage a timeless, cinematic feel—perfect for Updoc’s brand.
The lenses offered the depth and texture we needed, especially in the smaller office space. With such a tight schedule, we had to be incredibly efficient, pre-planning every setup and lighting adjustment down to the last detail.
The crew worked together seamlessly, and the actors nailed performances that captured the simplicity of the campaign’s message. Even with long hours, the energy on set stayed positive, and every shot mattered.
Post-Production: The Finishing Touch
After wrapping the shoot, we dove straight into post-production, which we handled fully in-house at Creature Media.
Using DaVinci Resolve for editing and grading, we ensured the films had a clean, professional finish. We went through three rounds of revisions to align perfectly with the client’s vision. Our team also created a graphics section to demonstrate the Updoc app, seamlessly compositing the app onto a green screen in one scene. This streamlined approach allowed us to stay flexible, make quick adjustments, and deliver four films that perfectly captured the message of simplicity.
